Official Tax Tools & Links

We put this page together so you always have the real, official tax resources in one place, with no third-party imitations or paid lookalikes. Every link below goes directly to the IRS or the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. Each one opens in a new tab so you can keep this guide handy.

Always confirm you are on a genuine government website. Federal pages end in irs.gov and New York State pages end in tax.ny.gov. The IRS and New York State will never ask for payment by gift card, wire, or cryptocurrency, and a legitimate notice will always arrive by mail first.

Need Help With Any of This?

These tools are great for quick tasks, but they cannot tell you what a notice really means, whether your withholding is right, or how to respond to an audit. That is where we come in. If you are facing an IRS or New York State issue, or you simply want a professional to handle your filing and planning, our Garden City team is ready.

These government tools are useful, but a website cannot read a notice in context or argue your case. When the IRS or New York State sends a letter, the worst thing you can do is ignore it. Bring it to us early and most problems get smaller, not bigger.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get my tax refund?

The IRS issues most federal refunds within 21 days of accepting an electronically filed return with direct deposit. New York State refunds typically arrive within a few weeks as well, though returns claiming certain credits or selected for review can take longer. You can track both using the refund tools linked on this page.

I received a notice from the IRS or New York State. What should I do?

Do not ignore it, and do not panic. Read the notice carefully to see what tax year and issue it concerns, and note any response deadline. Many notices are routine and easily resolved, but some require a careful, documented reply. If you are unsure what it means or how to respond, contact JRH & Associates and we will review it with you and handle the correspondence on your behalf.

Can JRH & Associates communicate with the IRS for me?

Yes. As a CPA firm we can represent you before the IRS and the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance. With proper authorization we handle the calls, letters, and documentation so you do not have to face the tax authorities alone, from a first notice through a full audit or dispute.

Facing an IRS or NY tax issue?

Do not handle the tax authorities alone. Our CPAs will review your notice and represent you from the first letter through resolution. Your first consultation is always free.
